Employing A Carpet Cleaner

It is a hard task to find a professional carpet cleaning company that does not outsource work. When hiring a carpet cleaner it is imperative that the person hired is the person doing the manual labor involved in cleaning the homes carpet. Make sure to ask the right questions on the phone before you invite a cleaning service into your home for an interview and quote. This will save time eliminating companies that outsource right away.

A good way to hire a professional carpet cleaner that does not outsource is to ask for referrals amongst people that are familiar. Once a family finds a reliable, trust worthy, budget friendly carpet cleaning company they are likely to hold on to them and recommend them whenever friends are in need. Outsourcing leads to inexperienced, young technicians without proper training to be hired for cheap by big name companies into the home possibly creating irreversible damage to carpet flooring. Some of the issues that can arise without proper training, professional experience and appropriate equipment include; over-wetting, over-shampooing and staining.

In order to keep carpet clean and maintained it is important that they are cared for on a regular basis. This means a professional carpet cleaner should be employed at least once every twelve month period to keep stains from setting in, micro organisms to root deep into carpets and to protect the health of the individuals in the home. Experienced, trusted carpet cleaner companies might require extra work to find but will be well worth the extra worth when the job is finished and carpets are left in mint condition.

Over-wetting is an issue many homeowners face when trying to clean their carpets on their own. Over-wetting can lead to delimitation of the carpet. This is when the carpet backing separates from the actual carpet fibers. This is not fixable without replacing the carpet affected. Another issue that can arise when carpet is saturated is that the carpet backing can shrink causing separation of the materials within the carpet. Carpet color can be dissolved leaving carpet looking faded and worn if left wet not to mention the growth of mold and mildew that happens with carpet that is not thoroughly dried. During spot cleaning this can be avoided by using a fan to circulate the air within the area of the removed stain. This will help dry the area alleviating issues involved with over-wetting carpet. A professional carpet cleaner should be using equipment that leaves the carpet dry to the touch along with instructions on air circulation to complete the drying of carpets.

Along with too much water many untrained carpet cleaners will use an abundance of shampoo. Often the over use of water is because the carpet is not able to rinse the shampoo out thoroughly. Leaving shampoo residue on carpet will create a film that will be seen and felt. A professional carpet cleaner will use the correct combination of shampoo and water along with the right equipment for the job leaving your carpet looking and feeling new.

Looking for a carpet cleaning company in Cape Town? give http://www.mzansicarpetcleaners.co.za/ a call.

Staining from placing furniture on wet carpet is common when dealing with inexperienced carpet cleaners. A true professional carpet cleaner will make sure that your carpet is not ruined from stains left from wood or metal furniture by placing a protective barrier underneath the legs and covering the bottom and sides of all furniture. They will leave this in place for days following the cleaning until the carpet is thoroughly dried and return to remove them. At this point in time they will also look to make sure tough stains were removed and treat any area that did not turn out as the homeowner anticipated.

Finding a professional individual carpet cleaner is difficult but well worth it. When calling the same professional comes into your home and can address the needs that are special to your situation and carpet without explanation each and every visit. Expectations can be met because of previous standards which have been put in place by the carpet cleaner himself.

Your SEO Service, Ethical SEO, and Competitor Monitoring

When a company undertakes a search engine optimization program, whether it is performed in-house or outsourced to an SEO service, most of the attention (and rightly so) is focused on the company website. This is the one aspect where there is a feeling of control–once a website is released into the wild, the company will have to see how its site fares against all the other websites out there, whether the other sites are using ethical SEO tactics or not.

Apart from changes made to the company website, the assumption is often that the company and, if it is using one, its SEO service, has zero control over what appears in search engine results. However, this is not usually the case. Often, you or your SEO service can have a direct effect on search engine results by monitoring your competitors and reporting them to the major search engines when the SEO techniques used on their site fall outside what is popularly referred to as ethical SEO. (Please note that while I believe that the word “ethical” is tossed around too often, “ethical SEO” has become the standard phrase to describe white hat techniques, and so it is the phrase I use throughout the article.)

Primary Competitors

To start with, let’s define competitors. Almost every company has at least a handful of other companies that it considers to be primary competitors–the ones that sell the same products and services, that are of similar size, and so on. It is important that the SEO efforts (or lack thereof) of these competitors, whether they are using ethical SEO techniques or not, be monitored on a routine basis. If they have not hired an SEO service of their own, or if they have not started doing SEO in-house at all, you will have peace of mind knowing that the use of this channel, for the moment, is yours. If your competitors begin an SEO campaign, with or without an outside SEO service, you can learn much about their sales and marketing tactics by evaluating the keyphrases that they target. And you can also investigate whether they are using ethical SEO practices in their campaign.

Your Online Competitors

It’s important to keep in mind that it is unlikely that searchers are going to decide only between you and the primary competitors you have listed. They are going to consider any company that matches their particular needs and that shows up for their search term. This is why your criteria for a competitor online should broaden to encompass any company that offers products or services like yours that outranks you for any of your targeted keyphrases. If your in-house staff or your SEO service not only continually monitors your search engine positions but also analyzes the companies that appear above you in search results, you can often identify forward-looking competitors of which you were previously unaware–your primary competitors of tomorrow.Image result for Ethical SEO

Violations

This brings us to the key issue of ethical SEO. Search engine optimization is still a very new concept to most companies. Even the most respected companies can make mistakes in this arena, either by choosing the wrong SEO service, or by trying to avoid hiring an SEO service altogether by bringing it in house with well-intentioned but unqualified people. For example, BMW’s German site was recently removed temporarily from the Google index for using doorway pages–something that is not considered an ethical SEO practice. It stands to reason that your competitors are also not immune to violations.

Bad Firms

There are very notable examples of otherwise smart and established companies hiring an SEO service that put them in a worse situation than before they pursued SEO–by getting their site removed from major search engines for violating the engine’s terms of service, for example. Not long ago, there was a well-publicized example where most of the clients of a Las Vegas SEO service were penalized. Almost all of the clients claimed that they were not informed that the firm was not practicing ethical SEO and that they were therefore at risk.

SEO firms are generally divided into two camps–those called “White Hats” (those that use ethical SEO practices and will never knowingly violate a search engine’s terms of service) and those called “Black Hats” (those that do not use ethical SEO practices and that will attempt to unravel the latest algorithms and exploit any loopholes to achieve rankings at any cost). Neither approach is invalid–it is not against the law to violate the terms of service of a search engine. Moreover, black hat techniques can be quite effective. However, the tactics are risky, and anyone hiring an SEO service that wears a black hat and does not use ethical SEO practices should definitely be apprised of this risk up front.

Internal Resources

Firms are often tempted to avoid hiring an SEO service by performing SEO in-house, and the project almost always falls onto an already overburdened IT department. The problem with approaching SEO from a strictly technical mindset is that the strategies employed, such as the keyphrases targeted, will not necessarily be in line with the goals of the marketing and sales departments. In addition, an IT resource will usually approach SEO from a purely technical standpoint, without being aware of ethical SEO practices, and this can lead to trouble. Penalization is a very real possibility, and it is hard to get back onto an index once your site has been removed.

Monitoring

A thorough SEO service will monitor not only the handful of competitors that you deem crucial but also the sites that appear higher than you for any of your chosen search phrases. This may be somewhat controversial, especially to any SEO service or webmaster that uses tactics forbidden by the search engines’ terms of service. However, many white hat SEO service firms consider it an obligation to their clients to routinely monitor the sites of any competitor found on the engines to be sure it is using ethical SEO techniques.

There is a reason that every major search engine has a form to report sites who do not use ethical SEO tactics and who violate the terms of service so that these sites can be subsequently penalized or removed. Spam filters cannot catch all violations without also removing a large number of good sites. Search engines rely on their users to help them to keep their indexes clean and free of sites not using ethical SEO tactics. There are many techniques to spam an engine–far too many to list. However, a good SEO service not only knows what all of these techniques are but knows how to identify them when it sees them so they can be reported to the engine accurately.

The End Result

Business is business, and your interests often run directly counter to that of your competitors. When you report a website that is not using ethical SEO, it is very likely that it will be removed. This means there is one less company that you need to worry about in the online arena, at least for the time being. If the site in question outranked yours, you also get the added benefit of seeing your rankings improve as the violating pages are removed–provided, of course, that you are using ethical SEO techniques and steering clear of violations yourself, or you may be reported by a competitor of yours or its SEO service!Image result for Ethical SEO

The engine also benefits from users reporting violations. Engines do not like people trying to trick their indexes, since there might then be pages showing up for particular search terms that are not actually relevant to those terms. Clearly, search engines understand this benefit–if the engines thought they could weed out all the spam themselves, they would not provide a reporting system. Supporting such a system, after all, is not free. Real people employed by the engine have to visit the offending pages to confirm that they are not using ethical SEO tactics.

In the notable example cited earlier of the firm that got most of its clients penalized, the owner of the SEO service in question was quoted as saying, “Google can kiss my ass. This is the Wild Wild West.” He may be right–maybe it is the Wild Wild West. But there are a whole bunch of new sheriffs in town–and they are wearing white hats.

New and Handy Ways to Light Up Your Garage or Workshop

A garage or workshop can be downright dangerous if you’re stuck in the dark or have little light. Not only that, but you probably won’t be very handy or productive without decent lighting. A well lit garage is safer and can make your work more fast and accurate as well. Luckily, there are a few types of lights available these days that make your garage a more hospitable environment for whatever project or fix that you need to work on.

LED Work Lights

A halogen work light is the traditional way to light up a garage, as you get a ton of light in a fairly portable form factor. However, halogen lights can be difficult to move around, not necessarily from their weight, but from the fact that they are always hot to the touch. In fact, they get hotter and hotter the longer they are used. Many people even end up burning their hand when trying to handle these lights due to their heat. This can also be a fire hazard should you leave the light unattended or near something flammable. Good thing LED work lights were invented then. LED work lights are smaller and more portable than traditional halogen work lights, but have many other advantages. First, they won’t burn your fingers when you touch them. In fact, LED’s generate very little heat at all. Also, LED’s are much smaller bulbs than halogen based lamps, therefore they can be brighter with less weight, and therefore much more portable. LED’s are also immensely durable for any project.

Battery Operated LED Lights

Another handy option that is great for any dark space around a garage is a battery operated LED light. These lights run on batteries, usually AA or triple A and can be hung, stuck or attached to any space around the garage that isn’t feasible for an electrically powered light. Some examples include inside of cabinets, inside of drawers, above or below a work desk, in between storage areas or hallways. There are also battery operated lights which have a motion detection feature, making them turn on as soon as you or someone else move near the light, and automatically turn off when no movement is detected for a period of time. These types of lights are great for a dark pathway or hall where there might not be an electrical outlet. These can also be handy inside storage bins, closets or drawers, as you don’t need to bother with turning a light on and off while you work.

The Top Ten Tips for Home Upgrades

Are you planning on doing some upgrades to your current home or a home you just purchased? Here are ten tips and tricks to improve the chances you’ll be delighted when you move back in.

Resale. Even if you’re planning to stay in the home, think of the next owner. Making sure your upgrades add resale value will give you all the options. Think kitchen upgrades, opening up spaces, adding a deck, installing hardwood floors, and upgrading windows.

Planning. Spend plenty of time planning what you want. Go to IKEA to look at storage options and spaces and go online to Houzz to look at ideas. Get your planner or contractor to show you exactly what the upgrades will look like in 3D. You don’t want to get to the end of the work and say, “Ah, I wish I had… ”

Contractor. Pick carefully and get three bids. Talk to their clients and tour their work. Ask for their insurance certificate.

Contract. Get a detailed contract and go through it with a fine-tooth comb. A general idea of the work and a handshake won’t do it unless you don’t care what you end up with.

Plan for a few surprises. Surprises are inevitable, but they should be minimal if you did your planning. Set some extra money aside for them – 10% of your remodel budget. If you don’t need to use it, great.

Don’t buy your own materials. If you think you’re going to save money by specifying and buying your own materials, you may be sorry. Contractors don’t like the practice, and they are better at choosing and negotiating than homeowners. Don’t worry; they will allow you to make all the choices but let them handle the transactions and the warranty.

Pack up as much of your stuff as you can in the areas of the house that will get the work. Contractors hate having to negotiate piles of clothes and toys, and the work makes an awful mess.

Stay out of the way. I know it’s fun to watch, and you also want to keep tabs on the work, but contractors will be much happier if you trust them to get the work done without you looking over their shoulder, or worse, trying to help.

Minimize mid-stream changes. In the middle of renovations, we sometimes realize that something needs to be changed on the plan. If you feel strongly about it, it is better to upset the contractor now rather than live with it later.

Have a pro review the work. Even if the remodels are small, have an independent contractor or home inspector review what was done before you write the final check. The few hundred dollars you spend on a consult will ensure your happiness and reduce surprises later.

10 Surprising Pool Maintenance Tricks You Should Know

Your swimming pool needs to be well-taken care of, in and out of season. Without proper care, the water can become a breeding ground for illness-causing organisms. A regular maintenance schedule will ensure that the pool remains clear and in good condition all throughout the four seasons.

In addition to the usual maintenance procedures for ensuring that the water is chlorinated and refreshed, some “unusual” methods can be applied to give the pool a facelift. These techniques will not only make your pool cleaner and safer for use, but they will also save you money, time, and energy.

1. Use Some Baking Soda

It not only works magic in regards to cleaning the swimming pool, but it also helps maintain the correct pH levels in the pool. Some stores will offer you a substitute known as an “alkalinity increaser” but buying baking soda will save you money. Eventually, both products give you the same results, but baking soda does so more efficiently. The amount of the baking soda required is dependent on the size of the pool.

2. Tennis Ball

You might wonder what this has to do with pool maintenance, but you will be surprised to know the effects. Tossing a tennis ball into the pool will clear the water by sucking up all the chemicals and oils that people bring into the pool in the form of sunblock and suntan lotions. If you leave the ball floating every once in a while, the difference will be hard to ignore.

3. Use a Bucket to Track Water Usage

Environmental factors, like temperature, and humidity, dictate the rate at which the pool loses water. However, average water loss should not be more than twenty-five percent of an inch daily. To measure the rate of water loss, place a weighted bucket on the stairs and mark the water levels at different intervals throughout the day. Significant margins are an indication of a leak in the pool, which you should have repaired. If the water levels are lower than what you would like, simply use a hose pipe to fill up the pool to the required levels. Remember to check the chemical levels after each refill.

4. Use a Line and Net to Remove Dirt

Loose dirt that finds its way into the pool can be removed by skimming, using a net fixed to a line. However, dirt, residue, and contaminants may stick along the tile area and water line, necessitating proper cleaning. Dedicate yourself to cleaning this area at least once per week to reduce calcium build up. As you clean the tiles, also remember that the walkways need to be cleaned too to minimize chances of transferring grime and dirt into the pool.

5. The Filter is the Kidney of Your Pool

If you do not adequately take care of this small, yet crucial part of your pool, eventually you may end up with a dead pool. In the same way the kidneys are responsible for removing impurities, so the filter is designed to remove contaminants like leaves, dirt, and small debris from the water. Once a month, it is advisable to clean the pipes in the filter system. A simple way to do so is to backwash by removing the leaf basket and turning on the pump and letting it run till the pipe discharges clear water.

6. Ensure that You Maintain Consistent Chemical Levels

This is one of the most critical factors in proper pool maintenance. When the water lacks proper chemical balance, it looks murky, irritates skin, and can harbor bacteria. It is recommended to test the chemical levels weekly. The chemical levels to be tested are cyanuric acid, free chlorine, total alkalinity, acidity/alkalinity, and calcium hardness.

Get a professional to do the testing for you. If you want to do it yourself, buy the testing kit from the local pool store and follow the attached instructions. Chemicals that are well balanced make your water very clear and produce no smell and leave no residue on the skin.

It is also recommended to “shock” your pool. This refers to raising the chlorine levels of the pool suddenly but for a short time. The technique is useful in killing bacteria, and the way to do this is to dilute five times the usual amount of chlorine with water and then slowly pouring it into the swimming pool. A few minutes later you refill the pool with water to restore the normal chlorine levels. Shocking increases the risk of damaging the pools siding, and that is why it is recommendable to limit the process to no more than two times each season.

7. Check the Condition of the Skimmer Lid

Occasionally it is necessary to replace the skimmer cover in case it gets cracked or broken. It plays an important role by preventing people or pets from falling into the skimmer well so it is important to ensure that it is in good condition and firmly fixed in position. During replacement, ensure that the power to the pump is turned off to avoid accidents.

8. Power Wash

This is also known as pressure washing and the process helps get rid of weather stains and any rust that can occur over time. The process begins by sweeping the deck clean to make it free of loose dirt so that it does not spread all over during cleaning. Set the power washer to medium power and spray the surface to remove all debris, doing so over and over again until the place is thoroughly clean. A power washer can be rented from the local pool store.

9. Ensure You Schedule a Yearly Service Appointment with an Expert

You may not think that it is necessary, but the knowledge you have may not be sufficient for the care of your equipment like filters, pumps, and heating systems. A professional pool service provider will not only check your devices but also advise you on what you need to improve to keep your pool in good order. They can quickly detect small problems that might cause a massive crisis in future.

10. Planning for Winter

it is equally important to take care of your pool during winter just like you do during summer. You don’t want to check your pool at the beginning of the next summer only to find that the water turned color and is home to dangerous bacteria. Properly winterizing your pool will save you a lot of money and time during the next season as you do repairs. Some of the things you need to do are balancing the chemicals, blowing out excess water from the plumbing lines, and covering the pool to keep away debris.

With these simple, yet surprising tricks, your pool should maintain higher standards that are not so common with most privately owned swimming pools.

Tips for Priming Walls Before Applying Paint

Before you paint your walls, it is strongly encouraged by all veteran drywall painters to prime first. Wall priming may seem like a tedious and unnecessary step, but you will find that it is very worthwhile in the end. Even if you have a non-significant area to paint, like a closet or pantry, priming first will make a huge difference, and you will be happy that you did. Continue reading to learn some helpful tips that will make priming an easier job than you’d expect.

Why Prime?

There is a good reason to prime your walls before painting them. Primer is a sealant, which provides a preparatory coating for your paint. Primer promotes better adhesion of paint, increases paint durability and longevity, and protects the drywall. Although you can purchase self-priming wall paint, it is recommended to use two separate products for the best results.

What You Will Need

To prepare your walls for painting, you need the right supplies. Never try to take short cuts when priming and painting. It is important to not skimp out on quality as well. Although you do not need the finest products to achieve a professional-looking result, you do need to use good brands and durable tools.

To get started, visit your local home improvement store and add these items to your shopping cart:

  • Paint Brush
  • Paint Pail
  • Paint Pail Liner
  • Roller Tray
  • Roller Tray Liner
  • Paint Roller
  • Roller Cover
  • Drop Cloth
  • Primer
  • Sanding Sponge
  • Extension Pole

*Don’t forget the actual paint for when you’re done prepping!Application Tips

Always be sure to prepare the surrounding area for a painting project by covering up carpet, floors, furniture, and appliances with tarps. This step also includes taping up baseboards, crown molding, wainscoting, and more. Once your surroundings are protected, you can get to work without concern for your personal possessions.

When dipping your paint brush into the primer, try to wipe the excess product off on the sides of the pail. You do not want to apply primer when your brush is dripping. When it is time to apply the product to the wall, start with edges first. Create a border around the edges and corners of the walls where the roller will not be able to reach.

For reliable results, always apply at least 2 coats of primer. For new construction drywall, one coat is acceptable, but two coats is the standard. For darker colored walls, you may need one or two extra coats if you are painting with a lighter color paint afterwards.

Be sure to lightly sand your walls after the primer has finished drying completely. Then use a tack cloth to wipe off all the excess dust. Do this step before painting, and you will have a smooth, even finish when you are done.

This is actually quite simple to achieve. All you’ll need are wine corks and some keychain rings. Simply screw your keychain ring into a cork and that’s about it. If you wish to personalize your keychain, you can opt to draw on them.

3. Cork Trivet

Using superglue and a lot of corks, start by gluing 3 corks together and continue gluing more corks until you have a circular shape. Once you’ve achieved your desired size, let it sit and dry.

4. Plant Markers

Prepare some wine corks, a drill, a permanent marker, and some bamboo skewers. Using the marker, write plant names on each cork. Next, carefully drill into the bottom of each cork and insert your bamboo skewers into place.

5. Cheese Knives

You’ll need different cork shapes and sizes, a good crafts knife, and your cheese knives. First off, remove the handles from your cheese knives. Next, use a crafts knife to create a small opening to be used by each knife shape. Next, wedge the knives into this slot and that’s it. You’ll have a unique and beautiful cheese knife set and your guests will enjoy them too.

6. Bath Mat

Have you been trying to find cheap and fun ways to decorate your bathroom? Why not give it a new mat using nothing but all the wine corks you’ve saved over time? To make this mat, you’ll need to gather tons of wine corks, a hot-glue gun, a ruler, a sharp knife, sand paper, and a non-adhesive shelf liner. Cut each cork in half and arrange these halves in a long rectangle. Cut a shelf liner to size and then glue rows of corks on top of the liner, one by one. Start off with the frame and work your way inwards until your mat is complete.

7. Coasters

Gather your corks, a pocket knife, sand paper, and thin cork paper circles. Cut all the corks in half lengthwise then, attach them one-by-one to the paper circle. Cut off all excess cork and then sand down the edges. Make as many as you wish with this fun and practical project.

8. Decorative Cork Balls

This DIY is a bit more complicated than the rest. You’ll need wine corks, brown acrylic dye, a glue gun and a Styrofoam ball. Apply the dye to the Styrofoam ball and let it sit to dry. Apply glue to one end of a cork and place it on the Styrofoam ball. Hold it until it sticks and repeat the process until the Styrofoam ball is covered in corks.

9. Place Card Holders

You’ll need a knife, corks, paper cutter, a pen, and card stock. Cut card stock to size and then hand write all guest’s names on each card. Slice a cork in half lengthwise, and then cut a small opening down the middle. Place a card into the slot and then place these card holders around your table/s.

10. Corkboard

All you need are tons of corks, a mirror, knife, and hot glue. Take the mirror and remove the glass. Apply dye on the exterior of your frame uising your preferred color. Insert some cardboard in the empty space and then cover the entire area with half-cut corks. If you want a better and unique design, stick these half-cut corks into a zigzag pattern and cut off any excess corks. Leave to dry.

The Best Way to Get Financial Aid For Stay at Home Moms

Being a mom or becoming a mom is a tough job. I think it is the toughest job in my book. As a man I think a lot of things would be different for me if I was to have to worry about carrying a baby for nine months and then having to take care of it while still having to earn money.

I personally wish every woman who wants to have a family should receive financial independence. This way they will not have to be locked down by many aspects of life which involves money.

Money is a creation and the family is real. Being able to create something that is real should outweigh the many false creations out there. For some reason it seems the fake creations are more important these days. We learn from an early age we should get a job to support ourselves and the family.

Are we taught to get a job? Is it something we are naturally thinking about before we are taught that. I think many people naturally think about being married and having kids first. For some reason those dreams change or become pushed back due to financial reasons. The job has taken over our thinking instead of what is in the hearts of many of us.

Our thinking is developed through the people we meet, schools we attend, friends we make, what we read, what we watch on TV, etc. For some reason what is truly embedded in what we want in life gets brainwashed a little bit.

We get convinced into thinking we can get to becoming a dad or mom later on in life even though, at least in my mind, it should be ahead of everything else we want in life. Having that strong foundation kind of makes everything else better. You have that feeling something is missing without that strong foundation. We might replace that foundation with bad relationships, drugs, alcohol, working a lot, etc.

Obviously the way society is set up now we need money to survive with. Making money online has allowed people to spend more time with family and friends and live a much better lifestyle than a typical 9-5 work style where you end up hating to get out of bed in the morning.

If you enjoy taking surveys online, creating a home business for yourself is not as hard you may think. It will be slow in the beginning but over time you will reap in the rewards by learning the business, reading good articles, and being ethical throughout your work at home career.
